How to use the Azure Management Console

Step-by-step guide

 

  1. Goto https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/ and click on the option MY ACCOUNT



  2. Click on Management Portal:



  3. Login using the same credentials as that for the Microsoft MSDN account.
  4. Click on Virtual Machines in the LHS panel:



  5. Click on the virtual machine you wish to modify. The VM's are as follows:

    bifor: Production
    BI4Cloud-Dev: Current Dev / Test machine
    bi4test: Legacy dev / test machine (no longer used)



  6. Click on Dashboard:



  7. To start the machine, click Start at the bottom of the machine. To release a VM's resources after it has been shutdown, click on Shutdown. Note that you need to shutdown the VM in the console as well as shutting the machine down itself in windows to stop it consuming resources (money).



  8. Wait for the VM to startup. It can take up to 5 ~ 10 minutes to start up.
